When it comes to the lovemaking Oscars, women have always claimed the Best Actress award.
For decades, many women have admitted to faking orgasm during sex.
Reasons have ranged from wanting to spare the men’s feelings, to more serious medical issues that make it harder for some women to reach orgasm.
But lately it seems more and more men are coming out and admitting to faking it as well.
According to experts, men who fake it do so for the same reasons that women do – to spare their partners’ feelings.
Other reasons include not being in the mood for sex, being intoxicated or simply being accused of taking too long to come.
And while women usually get away with faking an orgasm without men suspecting a thing, the sex experts say the signs that a man is faking it are actually quite easy to detect, provided you know what you are looking for.
Sex expert Jane Zwane tells us how to know when your man is faking it in bed with these pointers:
No traces of semen
Zwane says that this can be difficult to detect if the couple are using condoms, but that this is a dead giveaway.
“He can easily rush to the bathroom to dispose of it (condom) before you notice he made no deposit into it. His rush could be a red flag,” she says.
“While we are not advocating for women to scavenge and scrutinise condoms after every lovemaking session, if you do suspect that your man may be faking it, this could be something you want to look into.”
No flat tyre
It’s only natural that if things got heated during a lovemaking session, that things cool down afterwards. Zwane says that unless your man is gulping on Viagra or some sort of imbiza, if his tent does not get deflated after the ceremony, it could be a sign that you were just given a performance worthy of an Oscar.
“If he maintains his erection a little too long after he claims to have orgasmed, it’s probably fake. Unlike women, men need a recovery period between rounds,” Zwane says.
Listening is a skill
The truth is, most women, especially those who have been with their partners for a while, know the sound he makes during orgasm.
Zwane says this sound is unique, and extremely difficult to re-enact, and if it sounds different, he probably did not orgasm.
“If there is no obvious build-up to his orgasm when he normally has one, we have a problem.
“Pay attention to his sound, his gestures, the way he holds you tightly. These are all reflexes that are unplanned, and happen naturally when a man orgasms. You usually can tell if someone is not being genuine about all of these.”
Position please
When a man wants to fake it, he will not look you in the eye. The answer, says Zwane, is that the writing is usually on the face.
“Just like the sound that a man makes during orgasm, his facial expressions are also a natural reflex that cannot be re-enacted. So most men who want to fake orgasm will do anything for you not to see their face.”
No snoring?
While most women usually complain about their men passing out immediately after sex, the opposite could point to him faking it.
“If he changes his routine after sex, whereas he was accustomed to rolling over and sleeping, chances are he did not reach orgasm.”

Load shedding?
The last sign encompasses all the other four. If your man insists on keeping the lights off during sex, he could be trying to cover up the condom, the facial expressions and everything else that could point to the fact that he did not orgasm.

We also spoke to relationship expert Daluxolo Ndlazi, who explains what can cause a man to fake it.
– If a man says he is not in the mood, he genuinely might not be. For some men, sex begins in the mind, and work, money and relationship stress may contribute to him not wanting to get frisky with you.
– If he is too intoxicated, don’t initiate sex. Chances are you will end up disappointed. Most men want nothing but to sleep when they are drunk, so if you are nagging him about it, he might participate just to get you off his back.
– He could have orgasmed earlier.
If a man rejects your advances for sex or fakes it often, something may be amiss. He may be getting sex elsewhere. Most men cannot give a repeat performance after ejaculating earlier, making his only option to fake it with
-There could be a genuine medical reason. If you as a man have a hard time reaching orgasm, it might be a good idea to seek the help of a professional. There might be a medical reason lurking underneath.
