The queuing at petrol stations and the hike in the price of fuel is very frustrating but who would’ve known that it could also be a breeding ground for love and romance?

Queuing at the petrol station in 2022 helped me to find love. I stood in a queue waiting for my turn for more than an hour before the organized queue scattered after someone had managed to buy fuel before his turn. Omo I was frustrated because I was standing there for a long time and now I have to struggle my way to the attendant too? The frustration ended when Daniel, a stranger offered to help me when he was getting his gallon filled. I gave mine to him and gave him money so he could pretend he came with two gallons. People were complaining but we got the job done. Long story short, he drove me home and we’ve been together since then. It’s too early but if we ever get married and have kids, I’d tell them I met their father at a fuel station during one of Nigeria’s mumu times.

“I queued up one hot afternoon in my car after regretting not taking my keg with me to the filling station and realizing that these people were only selling to people with kegs. I couldn’t even leave because there were cars parked behind me and one of these cars was Kingsley’s. I came out from my car to see if I could find a way to drive out and search for fuel somewhere else and that was when I met Kingsley. He got out with his kegs. Yes, he had two with him and in my head I was like “some people no dey play sha.” I said let me try my luck and that was how I flirted my way into buying fuel with his keg. We exchanged contacts and I know we’re in our talking stage but I sure something deep is happening between us.”

Let’s just say that I bumped into my high school crush in March 2022 while queuing at the petrol station. I was already shouting at the guy selling fuel when I heard someone call my name. I turned and it was him. I was very embarrassed because not only was I shouting but I was looking like goat. We hit it off almost immediately after we started talking. About two months later, we started dating and yeah, he’s the love of my life.

If you told me that I’d find love while queuing up in frustration at a filling station, na decking straight! I went to buy fuel one night and I wasn’t sure what to expect because my younger brother had been the one going through the stress. As I was standing there with my gallon, that was when Boma came close to me. I could tell she had just bathed because she was smelling fresh. I knew how much fuel was sold for but I needed something to start a conversation with her. I asked her if she knew how much it was and she told me then I said “Nigeria is dead” and that was exactly what started our chit chat. It turned out that she’s really a smart girl. We went on a date and although I don’t want to rush things, I am definitely gonna ask her to be my girlfriend soon.

I used to go get fuel with my ex boyfriend without knowing someone was monitoring my relationship at the filling station. It was when we broke up that this fuel matter started. As I was standing on the queue, Richard walked up to me and said “so you’re alone today” I looked at him and saw the annoying but cute grin on his face. Even I was shocked when I smiled back and we started talking about why the fuel scarcity thing started. We were still on the same queue when I started telling him about my ex. I’m still shocked from this realization. Do not forget that this guy didn’t come to buy fuel o! Richard stood next to me talking till I got fuel. The attraction increased over a space one month and we’re very much in love with each other.
