To many who don’t know celebrated Obinna Iyiegbu, fondly called Obi Cubana, he has come out to reveal how he acquired his wealth, which according to him, is through hard work and connection with people.
The 46-year-old businessman who hails from Oba, Idemili South Local Government of Anambra State spoke in an interview with BBC Pidging how he got his first -ever N1 million in life.
The Political Science graduate said that after he left school, he was posted to Abuja for his National Youth Service (NYSC) in 1999 where he served at the National Assembly. While doing this, he engaged in estate agency business, selling land and real estate property.
“This was where I heard people talking about 5% payment for the first time in my life,” he said.
His big break, however, came when he met one client who gave him a house furnishing contract.
“I handled the job very well for the person in turn appreciated me with the sum of N500,000 and I had a profit of over N600,000 making the whole package from this job to be over N1.1m.

Speaking on the reason he gave his mother a talk of the town burial which had drew mixed reactions from Nigerians on the social media.
Obi Cubana said: “We promised my mother that we would hold an elaborate birthday for her when she clocked 80 years with a kind of celebration that has never happened before in this world,
“Unfortunately, she died before her birthday so we decided that we should redirect all arrangement of birthday to the burial. We ensured that the burial was the talk of the town as we promised her,” he said.
