Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has disclosed that he started dating his wife when he was sharing one room with four other guys in Abuja.

Obi Cubana has had the spotlight on him, following the extravagant burial of his mother in Obi, Anambra State, last Friday.

The businessman and owner of the popular Ikeja Cubana Club has been speaking on how he made his money, after the lavish burial ceremony he gave his late mum made Nigerians on social media question his source of wealth.

Obi Cubana, who is married to a lawyer, Ebere, said a zoom video that the bed in the one-room accommodation he shared with the other four guys was kept on the floor.

He noted that he and his wife were happy while dating, despite not having so much.

He said they dated for about three years and by the time they eventually got married, he was already living in a three-bedroom apartment in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“I started dating my wife when I was living in one room. We were like four guys staying in one room without bed, the foam was on the floor. I keep saying it; I met my wife when I was staying in one room; one room boys quarters in Zone 4 Wuse, Abuja.

“It was not about the money, but we were happy. I married her when I was already living in three bedroom flat in Garki. We had our two children there. We were happy. The happiness within me was having a woman who was ready to keep the home as peaceful as possible. Peace brings about prosperity”, he said.

He stressed that though money does not keep marriage, it makes marriage easier.

“Money doesn’t keep marriage. Money does not keep marriage. Money makes marriage easier. Yes! Granted. The richer you are, the money the tendency for you to get divorced…”

Reports say the couple are currently in the Maldives and have been sharing updates via their respective Instagram accounts.

Ebere said Obi whisked her off for a “baecation” following the funeral.
