Ipadeola Oriyomi, a social media influencer who was arrested in Lagos State for violating COVID-19 protocols, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of preventing him from being treated after contracting the virus.
Narrating his ordeal on social media, Oriyomi claimed that he contracted COVID-19 after he was arrested at a night club in the Victoria Island area of the state and locked up at the Maroko Police Station.
Oriyomi, who has been in the custody of the Oshodi Taskforce since Monday, said a test for COVID-19 was carried out on him which returned positive.
“They took us to Maroko Police Station where we slept overnight before they transferred us to Oshodi Taskforce,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I have been in Oshodi Taskforce since Monday. They tested us yesterday for COVID-19. The test came out today and it shows I’m positive,” he said.
The social media influencer claimed that he was locked back into the cell instead of being isolated or taken to an isolation centre for COVID-19 infected persons.
He called on the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that he is taken to an isolation centre for treatment, warning that his health and that of those in the cell with him are being endangered.
