Otis Hughley, coach of Nigeria’s senior female basketball team, D’Tigress, has said he took the job out of love for the country.
Hughley guided the team to retain their Afrobasket title in Senegal last week, which they won in Mali two years ago.
The American dismissed insinuations that the achievement was big on his Resume’, saying he had already achieved a lot as a stakeholder in the sport.
“I’m a basketball guy, it’s just out of love. It would be nothing for my career. I’ve been in men’s basketball coaching for like 12 years.
“College coach for 13 years, High School coach for seven years. So 20 years plus experience. It all because I’m really committed out of my love for Nigeria.
“But I’ll just keep my ears and heart to whatever the Lord have. It is about what he has next,” he told Brilafm.
