Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, has debunked reports that he was attacked at the Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna on Sunday.
Aisha Yesufu, a rights activist, had tweeted that Amaechi was attacked at the train station and fled like a new born mouse. She claimed the attack was witnessed by her brother, sister and sister-in-law, who were on the train that day.
Also, an online medium, Daily Nigerian, had in a report stated that kidnappers laid in ambush around Mando area and attempted to waylay the passengers including Amaechi, who arrived at the train station around 8:15 pm on Sunday.
The newspaper quoted sources as saying that no sooner had the kidnappers opened fire on the vehicles than policemen and soldiers arrived at the scene in armoured vehicles to disperse the hoodlums.
However, Amaechi, in a tweet on Monday, said he was not attacked, insisting that he did not even see bandits or kidnappers. He urged Yesufu to be courteous in her accusations rather than haul insults at him.
Madam, I was not attacked, I did not see or escaped attackers, bandits or kidnappers. I did not “fled like a…” Insults & abuses will not change the fact that I was not attacked or escaped attack, in Kaduna last night. BTW, we can still be respectful & courteous here.
