Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas have distanced himself from a tweet earlier made by his official Twitter account claiming that he is gay.
The legendary goalie had earlier been heavily criticized after a tweet emanated from his official Twitter handle claiming that he is gay.
“I hope you respect me; I’m gay,” a now-deleted tweet that earlier emanated from the former Real Madrid goalie read.
Following Casillas’ now-deleted tweet, Carles Puyol, a former foe and teammate, replied in support of the goalie, writing: “It’s time to tell our story, Iker” along with a heart and kiss emoji. Puyol and his girlfriend Vanesa Lorenzo have two kids together.
However, in a recent tweet, the former Real Madrid goalie denied making such a tweet claiming that his Twitter page was hacked.
“Hacked account. Luckily everything in order. Apologies to all my followers. And of course, more apologies to the LGBT community,” he wrote
Cuenta hackeada. Por suerte todo en orden. Disculpas a todos mis followers. Y por supuesto, más disculpas a la comunidad LGTB. 🙏
