American singer, R.Kelly has said that he will continue to fight for his freedom and also prove his innocence after being found guilty.
Recall that about twelve jury on Monday, found the singer guilty of all nine counts, including racketeering on their second day of deliberations.
During the verdict, the singer remained still with his eyes downcast as the verdict was read in a U.S Federal court in Brooklyn, New York.
The prosecutors also alleged that the entourage of managers and aides who helped R. Kelly meet girls and keep them obedient and quiet amounted to a criminal enterprise.
According to reports, the R&B legend also faces the possibility of decades in prison for crimes, including violating the Mann Act, an anti-sex trafficking law that prohibits taking anyone across state lines “for any immoral purpose”. Sentencing is scheduled for May 4, 2022.
After the verdict, the singer took to his social media page to assure his fans that he will not rest until he proves his innocence.
“To all my fans and supporters I love you all and thank you for all the support. Today’s verdict was disappointing and I will continue to prove my innocence and fight for my freedom. ✊🏾❤️#notguilty”
