He said this in an Instagram live interview with Dele Momodu on Monday night.
The paper had published a piece titled, ‘FFK, the drug addled thug in designer wear’ on Sunday.
The piece comes after the chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lambasted Charles Eyo, a reporter of the paper at a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on August 20, 2020.

Fani-Kayode told Momodu that he has spoken to his lawyers and the matter would be taken to court. He described the paper’s decision to publish such piece about him as shocking after he had apologized for his actions.
He added that the paper has an agenda against him saying it had written a “litany of lies” against him some days before their latest publication. He also dismissed claims that the journalist had asked six questions, asking the over 30 journalists who were in attendance to publish such audios if he had falsely represented happenings at the conference.

Fani-Kayode said he has no respect for the paper, saying they had ignored important stories such as the killing of member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Enugu, the abduction of school children in Katsina by gunmen and the prosecution of Christians in the north.
Revealing events that led to the outburst, he said the reporter had been carrying a long face all through the conference and when he raised his hand to ask a question, he was eager to hear him out.
“I noticed a gentleman on my left who looked angry and agitated from the beginning of the press conference to the end, he put his hand up and i was curious about what it was that was worrying him and upsetting him so much. And i said, ‘why don’t you let this gentleman speak’.

“He got up and the only thing he said to me, he didn’t ask any question, he didn’t say anything order than this, ‘well, we do not know who is bankrolling you in all these things that you are doing’, waving his hand and looking in the opposite direction to me,” he said.
“I am a son of the Anago, I am 60 years old this year and I am a son of an Oduduwa person. For me, I don’t know about anybody else, this is exceptionally rude and he insulted me and he didn’t ask a question, he had established a premise that I was being bankrolled. The only question was, ‘we don’t know who is bankrolling you’ which is deeply insulting which any semi-educated person will accept.
“The minute he said it, I lost my cool and he apologised to it.”
