Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State governor, has said he is not desperate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The governor stated this on Tuesday during a prayer session, which held at the Government House in Bauchi on his 63rd birthday.
Mohammed, who noted that power comes from God, said he chose a special prayer session to celebrate his 63rd birthday to show gratitude to God for numerous blessings, especially for holding various leadership positions.
“I came from a royal family, I became a director, a senator, minister and now a governor; there is nothing I have not become. I must show gratitude to Allah and all of you for your support and guidance,” he said.
“And of course, calls for me to run for the presidency, maybe it is because of my modest contributions in Bauchi.
“I cherish what I have become. I know that there are some gaps here and there in terms of leadership and empowerment and so on.
“Whenever you find yourself on leadership you need to thank God for testing you because leadership is a responsibility.”
