Mansur Dan-Ali, the Defence Minister, visited the military’s theatre of operations for the war against Boko Haram in Borno State on Wednesday.
Dan-Ali, a retired military general, flew to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, and met with Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, and other senior military officers in the Operation Lafiya Dole.
The minister told newsmen that he was in the battlefield zone according to the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari to evaluate the operations and get feedback on how to improve the situation.
Dan-Ali said: “I am here on the instruction of Mr President, to come and see the happenings in the Theatre Command of the Operation Lafia Dole”.
`I have been briefed by the Commander and the Chief of Army Staff.
“I am here to know what is expected, what the president should do to make things work and I have been briefed.
“So, I will take home all the briefings by each and every of the commanders here.”
It was learnt that Dan-Ali had a two-hour closed door meeting with Buratai; Lamidi Adeosun, Chief of Training and Operations; Benson Akinroluyo, Principal Staff Officer at the Army Headquarters and Theatre Commander, Operation Lafia Dole; as well as field commanders from the Air Force and Navy components of the operation.
The minister left Borno State for Chad, where he is expected to meet his ministerial counterpart.
