Newsbreak reports that personnel of the Imo State Police Command have reportedly arrested four members of a gang terrorising residents of Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
According to Daily trust, the security operatives also rescued three people, including an elderly woman, from the abductors.
The syndicate had its hideout in Umuozu, a neighbouring community to Amaigbo.
A victim escaped from the gang and thereafter informed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who mobilised members of the Amaigbo Security Watch (ASW) to their hideout.
In a piece of related news, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo has assured the residents of the state that there will be no need to arm themselves against gunmen terrorising the state.
He gave the assurance on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in his office at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This followed the call by the Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara who asked residents of the state to procure licences and arm themselves in the face of persistent attacks on various communities.
Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting with the President, Governor Uzodimma said the security situation in Imo has not degenerated to the level of asking the people to defend themselves.
