Hope Uzodinma, Imo State governor, has revealed that 70 per cent of suspects arrested over the recent attacks in the state are not Igbos.

Uzodinma, who said this in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, also disclosed that over 400 persons suspected to be involved in the mayhem have been arrested and charged to court.
He warned those planning to carry out more attacks in the state to abandon the plan, saying “government cannot surrender to blackmailers, hoodlums, and perpetrators of violence”.

“Over 400 of those who carried out the threats on the state in the past have been arrested.
“The good thing is that over 70 percent of them are not Igbo. We will crush anybody that attempts to cause mayhem or attack Imo people again.
“Government cannot surrender to blackmailers, hoodlums, and perpetrators of violence.

“Government is more than ever ready and prepared to keep Imo safe and secured.
“What happened in the past weeks will never repeat itself again.”
There have been at least four attacks on government facilities in the state, with police officers killed and their rifles carted away.
On February 25, gunmen razed the Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police Station in the state, after which unknown assailants also attacked the Isiala Mbano Divisional Police Headquarters in Umuelemai on March 20.

On April 5, there was another attack on the Nigerian Correctional Services and the Police Headquarters in the state.
Hundreds of inmates were freed and over 50 vehicles burnt in the attack.
