When a person who takes a political position of power illegally is removed by the Court, it is not unusual for tension to run high. It is however the hallmark of political maturity for such impulse to be controlled to avoid regrettable consequences. Since Emeka Ihedioha was removed as Governor of Imo state by the court he has been disturbing our eardrums with negative stories about the State. It has been this and that. This man has so much painted the State black because he wants people to believe that Uzodinma is bad or wicked and is not fit for governorship. He has left no one in doubt that he is at war with the government and people of the state.

The scent of the he-goat is right from its marrows otherwise the rain would have sluiced it. When the wind blows we get to see the fowl’s rectum. We have seen so many out-of-date screaming techniques by Ihedioha in Imo state. Few weeks ago, he sponsored a so-called 4th Anniversary of Egbu declaration which took place at All Saints Anglican Cathedral Egbu in Owerri.. There he boasted of keeping his eyes on the ball. The ball is the Imo governorship. He called for power to shift to the Owerri zone in 2023. By shifting power to the Owerri zone he means giving him the governorship position in 2023.

Another out-of-date screaming technique by this man is a sponsored publication through a group the Owerri Zone Parliament (OZP) warning governorship aspirants from Orlu Zone to steer clear of Owerri Zone during the electioneering campaigns for the 2023 general elections. Ihedioha has sponsored so many angst, thick and unrestrained attacks on the governor of Imo state, Chief Hope Uzodinma, who is less than 2 years in office.

Ihedioha represents the ugliest face of primitive politics Nigerians are fighting to do away with. He has grown so desperate that he can kill to come back to power. Outside power, he does not know what life portends for him. He is finding out that the heavy inducement he doles out to bloggers, newspapers and editors to publish fake stories about Uzodinma and Imo is yielding dwindling results as he quarrels with more bloggers. The desperation of this man is getting deadly by the day. His huge deployment to the media to present a gory picture of the state is bringing dwindling results because falsehood has limited span. It is failing him because Imo is not in outer space.

Listening to his speeches, there is no attempt to hide the fact that the man believes he is playing on the intelligence of the people. His speeches are so hollow that most times, they were meant to amuse and provoke laughter. They lack depth, facts and conviction and he believes he is always in a theater any time he speaks in public. He goes about with a retinue of hangers on who make merry at his concerts and interrupt his speeches with loud praise of him. He should put an end to his noise making. Ndi-Imo will not vote for him in 2023. Imo people will vote for Hope Uzodinma once again.

So far and amidst all these distractions, Governor Uzodinma has shown that under a relaxed environment he can change the face of Imo from the graveyard it was, to a bustling economy full of activities. His government is doing well. His programs have received a series of national accolades and we do not expect it to go down well on everybody and especially on those who want the status quo maintained. We don’t need to go on and on in naming the developmental strides of this governor. Whoever that is so concerned should come round Imo State to see things for himself.

All those who have been spreading lies about the governor of Imo state should repent now, for we will no more allow anything to distract him as he continues to give Imo people the tools, skills and training to succeed. It is God that saw the need for good governance that chose to crown him as Governor. God wants Imo to have a leader who is committed to working tirelessly to better the State and who knows how to create jobs and grow our economy. No matter how the enemies of our state plan against our Governor,Chineke aga ghi ekwe, they will fail.. Uzodinma is a people’s welfare conscious Governor.

I admire his developmental strides. Ndi-Imo looks to him for more understanding and compassion. They look to him for more reasoned actions and more responsive governing. They look to him for more good leadership and inspiration, leadership borne of a desire to make things right, to truly make a mark that the state will never forget. And as the people of the state look to him, he should look within himself so that he will not lose sight of or waver from God’s sincere reason for putting him as the number one citizen of the state.

-Kenneth Uwadi lives in Mmahu-Egbema, Imo State, Nigeria.
