The Ebonyi State government has banned any form of procession and mass gatherings in the state.
In a statement on Tuesday, Uchenna Orji, commissioner for information in the state, said the directive was given by the state governor, David Umahi.
He said the state government has also directed security agencies and Ebube Agu to enforce the curfew announced in the state in April.
“In view of the new development in the tactics and dimensions adopted by criminal elements in their attacks on public facilities,” the statement reads.
“The ban on movement into and out of Ebonyi State from 8pm to 6am is still in force,” the statement reads.
“No procession, in whatever guise, is allowed at any point in time in the state for the time being.
“Mass gatherings are not allowed except in essential service centres.
“Security agencies and Ebubeagu have been detailed to enforce all restriction orders issued by the state government.”
He also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and Ebube Agu, and provide useful information on the activities of criminal elements in Ebonyi.
The state has been experiencing rising insecurity in recent times, with several attacks carried out on public facilities, including police stations.
Unknown gunmen, on Sunday, launched an attack on Ugbuodo divisional police headquarters and killed one officer.
Also, some gunmen attacked Obiozara police station in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state on May 6.
