Gunmen on Tuesday morning killed a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, Dr Anthony Eze.
It gathered that Dr Anthony Eze was killed while taking his children to school in the morning.
Findings revealed that the gunmen had stormed the residence of the lecturer and on sighting the gunmen he allegedly attempted to flee when they rushed at him and emptied four bullets into his chest at close range.
Eye witness disclosed that the gunmen came in a Toyota Corolla salon car and after executing their plot fled to unknown destination while residence in the area flee for safety.
According to the witness, “We were here this morning when Dr Eze was driving out of his house and suddenly a Toyota Corolla salon car pulled towards the entrance of his house and when he tried to drive back they followed him and shot him, emptying about four bullets into his chest and we ran away”
He explained further, “We rushed him to the General Hospital Amaku and the doctor at the hospital confirmed that he is dead”.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga when contacted said that the command has not been informed about the incident.
He, however, promised to speak on the details later.
