Shehu Sani, a former senator, has said northern leaders must step forward just like former president Olusegun Obasanjo did to save the region from the spate of insecurity bedevilling it.
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly, said this in a Twitter post on Sunday while reacting to the solutions recommended by the former president to the security situation in the north.
The two leaders also urged the federal and state governments to focus on improving the welfare of the people in terms of job opportunities and upscale human capacity development by widening access to quality education.
Reacting, Sani said Obasanjo’s “modest intervention” in the situation concerning the northern region is well appreciated.
According to the former lawmaker, the ex-president has the option of being indifferent but decide to intervene, and, therefore, called on leaders of the affected region to follow suit and save it from total collapse.
Former President Obasanjo’s Concern and modest interventions in the security challenges in the North is much appreciated. He has the option of being indifferent.Northern leaders across political, ethnic and religious divide must urgently step forward to save the region.
