Some unidentified internet fraudsters have reportedly impersonated the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Bolanle Ambode, for fraudulent purposes.
The fraudsters were said to have disguised as Ambode’s representative and had been making use of social media platforms to extort money from members of the public.
Ambode, in a statement by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Folashade Kadiri, said, “The certain individual has been masquerading as her (Ambode) representative for the purposes of extorting money from unsuspecting persons, using social media platforms.
“Her excellency wishes to state very emphatically that she has no link whatsoever with such fraudulent element; she also has not authorised anyone to act on her behalf in questionable circumstances.”
While calling on members of the public to be vigilant and avoid dealings with shadowy figures pretending to represent her for motives that were “self-serving and clearly dubious.”
Ambode urged the public to report such activity to law enforcement agencies to ensure that the unscrupulous individual behind the nefarious act was arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
