My name is Tomiwa, a university undergraduate and an only child. I stay with my parents but having to stay home alone during semester breaks makes me depressed. I was really happy when my mum brought up the idea of wanting to bring Femi, a male cousin of mine to come stay with us for companionship.I immediately opted for it. Little did I know what I was getting into. Weeks after he came, we started getting along, I almost forgot he was my cousin and began relating with him like he was my immediate elder brother. The intimacy grew stronger as each day passes and we began to feel something extraordinary for each other. The lust began to grow deeper
until we committed incest. We kept on with it for some time until it finally dawned on me that I was pregnant. I then realised the shame and calamity I had brought upon myself and my family. My problem is how to inform my parents and how to bear the shame and pain.

Hello Tomiwa,
First of all, you have committed an abominable act not only condemnable by and cultural and religious edicts but also punishable by our country’s law.
That being said, your situation is quite a very perilous and controversial one that there is hardly a repertoire of suggestions through which you can bail yourself out.
The only situation right now is for you and Femi to open up to your parents and be truthful about the whole unfortunate saga.
You both must brace up to face the impending criticisms inform your parents about what happened, the circumstances that led to the situation, and I am sure that your family in collaboration with the family of your born child’s father, will then decide the next the next step of action.
And a little advice, you and your family must not make that decision to abort the unborn child. The child should not be unfairly made to suffer for the recklessness of two grown adults. That would also amount to killing a human being.
