A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, on Sunday asked the public to “disregard” the news that his one-time principal will join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and declare for presidency in respect of 2023, Newsbreak.ng reports.
Jonathan had on Friday said he is yet to decide whether or not to yield to pressure from different groups urging him to contest the 2023 presidential election.
He stated this in Abuja when his committee of friends and some youth from across the country visited him at his Foundation Office in Maitama.
But a news report from an unreliable platform this weekend claimed Reuben Abati, an erstwhile Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Jonathan, “confirmed” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member is set to join the APC. Now, Omokri, a close associate of Jonathan, has now debunked the ‘news’.
Disregard the news credited to @abati1990 that former President Jonathan will soon declare. He never made any statement like that. At best, it is a figment of the imagination of that journalist #FakeNews!#TableShaker
