Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Oyo State governor, has said ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, cannot become the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in 2023.
Alao-Akala, who is the chairman of APC Elders Advisory Council in Oyo, made the comment during an interview on Agidigbo 88.5 FM in Ibadan, the state capital, over the weekend.
The APC chieftain, who did not rule out the possibility of Jonathan joining the APC, noted that strong party leaders are on the queue for the party’s presidential ticket.
“I am not saying Jonathan can’t join APC but he can’t be President under APC in 2023. I’m not saying Jonathan can’t be president but it can never be under APC in 2023 because some people are on the queue already”, he said.
Alao-Akala noted that vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, is capable of leading the country, as well as national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.
“The wish of the party is my command and the party has not decided yet, I’m not recommending or supporting anybody for now, until the party decides,” he added.
