Ahmed Gulak, a former presidential aide, has declared self chairman of his party – the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Gulak did so at the party’s secretariat, citing a court ruling directing the party’s national leadership to nominate a chairmanship candidate from the north-east, which incidentally is where the Gulak hails from. Gulak served as special adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on political matters.
