Three persons were killed on Thursday, when armed robbers attacked a bank in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Governmenr Area of Ondo State.
An Ondo-based journalist identified as Olubunmi Afuye, who is also the spokesperson of Elizade University in Ilara-Mokin, was among the victims.
It was reported that Afuye was shot in the head while he was seated in the driver’s seat of his vehicle parked outside the bank.
The journalist was said to have anchored an event at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA) before the incident.
The robbers also shot a policeman and a motorcyclist dead.
According to TheCable, the robbers invaded the bank around 2:30pm.
They reportedly shot sporadically into the air to scare people in the area while their operation lasted.
The robbers used explosive devices to destroy the doors of the bank.
“They destroyed the security doors of the bank with an explosive device to gain access,” a source was quoted as saying.
“They carted away an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank and some persons were shot dead.”
Normalcy was later restored to the area.
