The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has welcomed reports that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his group are favourably disposed to the resolution of the issues with the PDP candidate.
A statement on Friday morning signed by Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to Atiku, obtained by Newsbreak.ng, also expressed the former Vice-President’s commitment to a negotiation “that will resolve the crisis of confidence and pave the way for a much stronger and united PDP”.
The presidential hopeful noted that never at any time of the differences that ensued have the doors been shut to Governor Wike and his group.
He enjoined every leader of the PDP and their supporters irrespective of their leanings to be open-minded and support the process of resolution of the extant issues.
Recall Governor Wike said earlier this week that he and his allies are open to reconciliation with the leadership of the PDP.
The governor and his allies have been at loggerheads with the party after the Rivers leader lost the PDP presidential primary to Atiku. They are demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the National Chairman of the PDP and have pulled out of the party’s presidential campaign.
