A prominent secessionist movement, the Biafra Nations League (BnL), on Friday officially declared its alliance with diaspora-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa.
Newsbreak.ng reports that Ekpa has been championing the controversial Monday sit-at-home in Nigeria’s southeast region. He is also calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
BNL expressed hope that its alliance with Ekpa would ensure that ‘freedom of Biafra” is quickened.
The pro-Biafra group also demanded the immediate release of Kanu, following the Appeal Court’s verdict discharging him last week.
At a press briefing in Calabar, Cross River State on Friday afternoon, the BnL Leader, Princewill Richard, warned that should the government fail to respect the court order, it would lead to an increase in the revolt against authorities.
Furthermore, the BnL insisted on the independence of Biafra, adding that nothing would be exchanged for the sovereignty they crave for.
