Amid rumours that the gunmen who attacked the Kuje correctional facility in Abuja on Tuesday night freed him, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Umar Abubakar, says Abba Kyari, the disgraced Police boss, “is not missing”.
Abubakar also noted that Kyari has not been moved from the Kuje prison.
The Kuje prison is famous for holding high-profile inmates and suspects, including former governors and ministers.
This news medium had earlier reported on the terror attack, which caused panic in Kuje area.
“He is still in our custody. Nothing happened to him. He has not been moved,” he told Punch on the telephone.
No fewer than seven vehicles belonging to the NCS were razed by explosives detonated by the terrorists who attacked the Kuje Custodial Centre.
Also, a wall of the prison was pulled down with explosives.
About 600 inmates escaped from the centre in the course of the attack, although about 300 have been recaptured.
