Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has increased the salary of civil servants as the state gears up for its governorship election next year.
Making this disclosure in a tweet, Senior Special Assitant to the governor on new media Jubril Gawat, shared a video clip where governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed to the state workers that he had instructed the state’s Head of Service to commence the process for the increment of civil servant’s salary.
“At our cabinet meeting, I instructed the Head of Service Office and the Ministry of Staffs training and pension to start work on how we are going to increase the entire salary of staffs,” the governor in the video shared by Gawat said.
Further, the governor explained that the move was made to relieve the pressure caused by the country’s constant rise in inflation.
While many applauded the governor’s decision, others dismissed it as part of the ruling party’s political ploy to win the hearts and minds of the state’s voters ahead of the 2023 polls in the state.
