Since 2020, K-dramas and their crew may have become more mature and less conservative in their storylines and acting. The following are some recent developments in K-dramas that you may have noticed.
French Kissing
The highest k-drama actors did was peck each other on the lips or get hugged from the back under the rain but now a lot of tongues are getting involved. These French kissing scenes are hitting us in the face and it’s giving above 18.
Sex Scenes
The original K-drama fans definitely thought that Koreans never have sex. We thought they were angels who only pecked each other to express their feelings. Now things are happening and these characters are openly talking about it. Juicy!
More Maturity and less Cringe
K-dramas have now left the cringe worthy scenes behind and have moved on to maturity and intensity. It’s like they realized that nobody wants to be watching a Gu Jun Pyo character drag a miss Geum Jan Di up and down. Check out Celebrity for the proof of change.
Taking off Clothes on Camera
Before, all we used to see were coats upon coats but now, it seems the heat in the room became too much for the Korean crew and actors that they had to start taking off clothes. We’re here for it! Check out Something in the Rain for evidence.
LGBTQ+
Even if we haven’t really seen a popular K-drama with a gay couple as main characters, we have surely seen minor characters play the lesbian couple. As usual, we came with evidence and it can be seen in Extraordinary Attorney Woo which has an episode with a lesbian couple.
Season Twos???
When we ventured into the beautiful world of K-drama, all we knew was that we would get one season with above 16 episodes, now we’re beginning to wait for a second season. I hope you know that Squid Game has a second season on the way?
Fewer Episodes
It’s like K-drama actors are now demanding more pay because why do some of these dramas have less than 10 episodes? Weren’t you surprised when Squid Game stopped at 9 episodes?
No More Gender-Bending Females
We’ve seen different eras of K-drama but the one we can all agree is finally over is the ‘gender-bending’ era. Maybe something bigger is coming 😉
Poor Girls Are Making Money
Celebrity changed the narrative for us. Although Ah-Ri was once wealthy, the poor babe’s character didn’t have to depend on a rich dude to sweep her off her feet and transform her life. She transformed it herself. K-drama writers and directors finally realized that even poor women can work hard and earn their own money without following a random rich dude around.
