Following the early Friday morning attack on the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation (FCFM) in Kaduna State and the abduction of its students, the Nigerian Army has evacuated the remaining students of the institution to its Ribadu Cantonment.
This was disclosed by military personnel, according to the Daily Trust.
The attack would have been worse if not for the intervention of officers of the Nigerian Air Force and troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kaduna, the report quoted the military personnel as saying.
The gunmen who attacked the college located in Afaka area of Kaduna State at about 3 am on Friday made away with an unconfirmed number of students.
ASP Mohammed Jalige, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna Police Command, confirmed the attack, noting that the number of abducted students was unknown.
“We have no details of the number of students,” he said, adding that the Police were working with the Nigerian Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.
