Dahiru Mangal, a renowned Katsina-based billionaire, is funding the campaign of Mohamed Bazoum, a candidate in Niger Republic’s upcoming presidential election, a report has revealed.
Mangal donated over a hundred campaign vehicles for Bazoum, a former minister in the country, according to PR Nigeria, who obtained an undated video showing the presentation of the vehicles.
The presentation of the vehicles was done in Maradi, the second-largest city in the Niger Republic and also a border town between Nigeria and the country.
The vehicles were all branded with “Mohammed Bazoum, 2021”, with a conspicuous photo of the presidential candidate on them.
With a net worth estimated around $765 million, Mangal is a business mogul and industrialist, who founded Max Air Limited in 2008.
Bazoum is a protege of outgoing President Mahamadou Issoufou and the candidate for the ruling Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS).
The general elections are scheduled to be held in Niger on Sunday, December 27 to elect the President and National Assembly.
