Kidnapped chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Delta State Chapter, Monday Ifoghere, and his wife, have been freed by their abductors after seven days detention in their custody.
The duo was reportedly released about 5 a.m. around the Eku axis in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of the State on Sunday.
It has been gathered that N12 million ransom was allegedly paid by the family, with contributions from associates and well-wishers.
It was gathered that days after they have forcefully whisked away, the kidnappers demanded N200 million, then reduced it to N100milion and finally N12million.
Punch reported that the victims have since been hospitalised and receiving treatment at an undisclosed Hospital.
NAPPS National Vice President (South-South), Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, while confirming the release of the husband and wife told journalists that the news had elevated his spirit just as he expressed gratitude to God.
“My joy has no boundary. Their release is divine. It is God that made it possible”, he stated while thanking members of NAPPS all over Delta State for their solidarity.
The police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
