The Labour Party has asked the public to disregard the news of the purported resignation of Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party.
Newsbreak.ng reports that the rumour also said Abure “dumped” Peter Obi, presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party.
But in a tweet on Wednesday evening, the party said the ‘news’ is “a lie from the opposition”.
Please disregard the news going round that our @NgLabour National Chairman has resigned and dumped @PeterObi. It is a lie from the opposition. We are set to take back Nigeria come 2023.#ObiDatti2023#PeterObi4President2023 pic.twitter.com/3U1PqYEq7b

“Please disregard the news going round that our @NgLabour National Chairman has resigned and dumped @PeterObi.
“It is a lie from the opposition. We are set to take back Nigeria come 2023,” Labour Party said in a statement on its verified Twitter handle.
In a piece of related news, Chimaobi Samuel Atu, the Labour Party candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, has expressed his belief that the growing popularity of his party by Nigerians would change the political landscape of Enugu State which has since 1999 been controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking in a recent interview with Sun News Online, Atu also warned against the suspension of the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the alleged campaign for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to be sacked.
