The Lagos State Government has said it will make compulsory wearing of face masks for residents from next week.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the State Governor, said this would help curb the spread of COVID-19.
He said this during a televised media briefing on COVID-19 updates in Lagos monitored by The Punch on Monday.

“From next week, we are going to be making face masks compulsory in Lagos state. We have commissioned more than one million face masks to be distributed in the state,” he was quoted to have said.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Health, had on Sunday said the wearing of face masks protects people around infected persons.
