The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele has debunked news that he met with the Lagos guber candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour ahead of the governorship poll slated for March 18.
The CBN governor was reacting to a story in one of the dailies titled, “Emefiele Launches Fresh Plot Against President-elect, Tinubu”.
In the story, it was alleged that Emefiele met with Rhodes-Vivour and donated a certain amount to him.
In his reaction, posted on the verified Twitter handle of CBN, Emefiele denied ever meeting Rhodes-Vivour in person or through proxy.
“We wish to inform members of the public that this story is completely false and malicious as the CBN governor does not know and has never met or even spoken with Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, either in person or through a proxy,” the statement read.
