Hon. Abdul-Sabur Olayiwola Olawale, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin Constituency II, has died.
Olawale, also known as Omititi, reportedly collapsed and died while returning to Lagos from the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Jos.
The lawmaker, according to a source, passed away at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang, Barkin-Ladi, Jos, while traveling back to Lagos.
The deceased was the chairman of the House committee on local government services while alive.
Setonji David, the head of the information, strategy, and security committee of the Lagos State House of Assembly, confirmed the development in a statement.
“It is with deep sadness, sense of loss and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Hon. Abdulsobur Olayiwola Olawale (alias OMITITI) representing Mushin Constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, who passed on today,” the statement by David read.
“Hon. Olawale was until his untimely demise the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations, a second term lawmaker, left us unexpectedly and threw the whole House into mourning.
“This death really hit us below the belt. We will all miss him more than words can express. We urge you to join us in prayers for his family at this time.”
On Tuesday, Tinubu launched his campaign for president in Jos. The event, which attracted a sizable crowd, generated criticism as the presidential hopeful made a mistake and prayed for the PDP his primary rival instead of the APC, his party.
