A man has whipped a commercial motorcyclist, popularly referred to as ‘okada’, with a charm in the Ijeshatedo area of Surulere, Lagos. Trouble started when the suspect, Elias Adeyanju, 26, had asked Ikot Onoja to take him to his destination for free. Onoja had declined and carried a waiting passenger leaving Adeyanju at the park.
When Onoja returned to their park, Adeyanju allegedly whipped him with a charm making him motionless and unable to speak. He then beat him inflicting various degrees of injury on him.
He was apprehended by fellow okada operators who saw what had happened. He was taken to the Ijeshatedo Police Division.
He was arraigned before the Isolo Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded not guilty.
