Some market women on Monday trooped out in the Ketu area of Lagos to protest the non-collection of old naira notes.
In the video seen by Newsbreak Nigeria, a woman who spoke in Yoruba was heard saying “They went to get produce but they didn’t collect the old notes from them.”
Despite the Supreme Court’s judgement that the old N500 and N1000 notes remain legal tender till Dec 31, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has refused to comment on the judgement, thereby creating confusion among Nigerians.
Nigerians have daily complained about the non-availability of the newly redesigned notes by the CBN as businesses have stalled over the lingering cash crunch.
