The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), has denied certain reports online that he has stepped down ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
In a press conference on Thursday, Jandor said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not in alliance with anybody.
He said, “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has stated that PDP across Nigeria is not in alliance or partnership with any political party and lovers of the party to go all out to vote for all PDP party candidates in the forthcoming election.
“Rumors purportedly sold by some reporters are false. Lagos PDP is not in alliance with any political party and myself as the candidate party hasn’t stepped down for any party and we’re not going to step down for anybody.”
There have been calls by some groups that Jandor should step down and support the Labour Party’s candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to unseat the incumbent, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The call is buoyed by the Labour Party’s victory in Lagos state during the presidential elections that held on February 25.
