Former Jigawa state Governor Sule Lamido and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha are to stay in jail till September 28, a court ruled on Thursday. The three were paraded for laundering state funds and receiving kickback of N1.35 billion a government contractor. The money was paid into accounts controlled by the governor and his sons. At their arraignment before Justice Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court, Kano, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, declined to host the accused, citing inadequate facility. This was against the plea by Lamido’s Effiong Effiong, senior advocate, to remand them in EFCC detention facilities. Lamido and his sons are alleged to have breached public trust.
