The late Nigerian boxer, Jeremiah Okorodudu, will be laid to rest on August 12 at the family compound in Agbarha Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, according to a statement made available by the family on Thursday.
The late Okorodudu died on June 28, 2023, at the Brighton Hospital, Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos, after several months of battle with partial stroke and toe cancer.
In the statement by the younger sister, Florence Okorodudu, the late flamboyant ex-pro boxer’s journey to his final place of rest will begin on 4th August with a candlelight procession at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, from 6 pm- 8 pm while his lying-in-state will be on 9th August at the Ogbe Stadium, Benin City Edo State by 2-4 pm.
His internment will be at his family home at Kingsley Ajirefe Street besides Chief Ominimini compound opposite Bruce Onobralkpea Art Gallery, Agbarha-Otor, on August 12.
A former national champion, bronze medalist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia, quarter-finalist at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States and a one-time assistant boxing coach with the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, the late Okorodudu, is survived by wives, children, brothers, sisters and numerous relations.
