Two lawyers and policemen have been killed, while seven passengers were burnt alive by unknown gunmen in Isu and Onicha Igboeze communities in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The two police were reportedly killed in Onicha Igboeze, while the two lawyers were on transit when they ran into the gunmen.
According to Daily Trust, after killing the lawyers, the gunmen left with the vehicle belonging to the lawyers and set their own Lexus Jeep ablaze.
Before the incident, about seven travellers were also said to have been burnt alive inside the vehicle they were travelling in along Onicha Igboeze road.
DSP Loveth Odah, spokesperson of the Ebonyi command, and Stanley Emeragha, the state consultant on Internal Security, confirmed the incidents to journalists.
Odah said the the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Garba, has dispatched a team of policemen to the area.
The attacks took barely 24 hours after governor David Umahi threatened to arrest parents whose children are behind the violence in the state.
