The Lagos State Government has withdrawn charges against Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Babatunde Gbadamosi, a former governorship aspirant.

Naira Marley, Gbadamosi and his wife were brought before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba for attending the birthday of Abdulrasheed Bello, husband of Funke Akindele, despite the lockdown imposed on the state.
The trio appeared in a video made by Bellow during his birthday house party over the weekend. The video had sparked outrage on social media over their disregard for social distancing, as advised by the government and health organisations to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Funke Akindele and her husband were on Monday sentenced to 14 days community service and fined N100,000 over the matter.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, one of the defence counsel, told journalists after the sitting that the state government withdrew its charges on the condition that the trio tender an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos.
