Has a person ever walked past you and everything about them screamed expensive and you just found yourself briefly turning around to have a second look just to take it all in?

We cannot dispute the fact that none of us wants to look like what we are going through and that’s why when you stare into the mirror after dressing up, you feel fabulous when that outfit is giving exactly what it needs to give, riches! While many dream of having a million-dollar wardrobe, this may not be the reality of others but the fact is you do not need to break the bank to achieve that million-dollar look. In this article, I am going to be sharing with you six tips on how to look expensive on a budget in 2022.

1.  Define your style

It is important that you know the looks that you are more drawn to in order to avoid chaos in your style – you cannot try to mix a Temi Otedola style with a Temmie Ovwasa style; that would be a total fashion mess.

This is where knowing your aesthetic comes in. To find your aesthetics, you can go through Pinterest

or fashion catalogues with different style ideas and inspirations to determine the ones you are more attracted to and this will serve as a guide to making clothing purchases.

2.  Be a minimalist

This saying “less is more” cannot be overemphasized when it comes to achieving that expensive look that you desire. You must avoid clashing colours, over-layering of clothing pieces and embellished pieces. When in doubt, going for monochromatic pieces and basic clothing articles can always be your best bet as it gives an air of simplicity and elevation. Clothing pieces such as trousers, gowns, shirts, and jackets always look better in neutral colours.

We mustn’t neglect accessories and hairstyles. When accessorizing, wearing understated accessories is advisable as it still enhances your look while giving you this air of class. Please, as a man or woman, avoid elaborate hairstyles.

3.  Buy unnamed brands

While you might be thinking that carrying a fake Gucci bag or wearing that tacky fake Louis Vuitton shirt will give your whole look that rich person vibe, I am here to tell you that you are only heading for the trenches. Getting unnamed brand in clothing and accessories saves you the shame of unoriginality. They are less expensive but they still maintain class and beauty.

 4.  Always get a perfect fit

Clothes that are too tight or too oversized will never live up to their true potential because they won’t fulfil what your body desires of them and that is a fact. Always go for a fit that accentuates your features and compliments your skin. Getting your tailors to make clothes for you is always a good option because those clothes are made from your body measurements and once you’re with a good tailor, you can never go wrong with your fits.

5.  Buy Thrifts

Thrifts, AKA okrika, introduce variety and an unspoken quality into your wardrobe. Yes, I said quality.

You can find durable second-hand pieces for half the price just as long as you look close enough to notice the quality of whatever it is you are getting. Sometimes, these pieces are still new as they’ve never been worn. These particular clothing pieces are found in the Clearance sales section.

It might even surprise you that you may find quality designer clothing pieces while you shop and get them for nothing close to their original prices.

6.  Invest in perfumes

While you may not look like it, you can smell like it. A person is likely to remember how good you smelled compared to how good you looked when they first met you.

The energy you use in selecting your clothes and shoes, kindly direct such to your deodorant/perfume selection. Do not neglect, I repeat, do not neglect how you smell for the sake of yourself and other people.

Now that you’ve read these simple tips on how to serve Otedola looks with the current amount in your bank account, I hope you go out there and conquer the world! Do not forget to share this article with your friends, family and enemies.
