Lazarus Chakwera, President of Malawi, is said to have travelled to the United Kingdom, to attend a virtual conference due to poor internet connection in his country.
Chakwera travelled to attend the Global Education Summit hosted by British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, with Malawi needing representation being one of the beneficiaries.
The Malawi president, who according to reports, defended his action, said the internet connection in his country is not reliable and it may affect his participation.
Chakwera listed 10 delegates who accompanied him on the journey, including his wife and daughter, but he was said to have dropped his minister for foreign affairs.
He claimed that his daughter was included in the delegation to take care of his wife who is not feeling well and to give physical support.
His reason for embarking on the journey has sparked criticism in the country.
