A 35-year-old man, John Ofeke, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting off one Ike Wisdom’s ear. The police prosecutor, simply identified as Sam, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 14, 2017 at Cele, Akowonjo Area of Lagos state.
The charge read: “That you John Ofeke ‘m’ on the 14th day of October, 2017 at about 1930hrs at Cele Bus-stop Akowonjo in Lagos Magisterial District did assault one Ike Wisdom ‘m’ by giving him human bite and cut off part of his left side ear that cause him grievous harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 245 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Ofeke pleaded not guilty to the count charge of assault. Presiding magistrate, Jadesola Ajayi, granted the defendant a bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till November 13, 2017.
