A 43-year-old man, Abayomi Ishola Mojeed, was Tuesday arraigned before an Ebute- Metta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly destroying his neighbour’s property.
The defendant was also said to have stolen building materials valued at N193,000 after damaging a N1.8 million building under construction, which belonged to one Imolorhe Janet.
The prosecuting counsel, Chinalu Nwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in 2011, at Eze Akafor Street, Ipaya, Iba area of Lagos State.
He said the stolen building materials include two thousand blocks, valued at N140,000, two trips of sharp sand, worth N 30,000 and a trip of gravel, valued at N23,000. He added that the offence contravened and punishable under Sections 413, 281, 339, 2 (1) and 4 (3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to five count charge of Stealing and malicious damage preferred against him.
The presiding magistrate, O.I. Adelaja, granted Mojeed a bail of N200,000, with two responsible sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till January 15, 2018.
