A 24-year-old man, Ojone Amos was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle.
He was said to have obtained the tricycle from one Stephen Audu with the agreement of paying N3, 000 daily returns. The defendant reportedly failed to honor the agreement and absconded with the tricycle.
Police prosecutor, Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Ojone committed the offence in January 2016, in the Shogunle area of Lagos state. He said the offence contravened and was punishable under Section 287 (10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2015.
Amos pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the lone count charge of theft preferred against him.
Presiding magistrate, Sule Amizat, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She said that the sureties must have verified addresses.
The case was adjourned till July 26, 2018 for mention.
