David Oduor, a Kenyan man, has been fined and sentenced to three months imprisonment for insulting his mother and threatening to beat her.
Oduor was found guilty of “causing a disturbance” in a manner likely to cause a “breach of peace”.
He was handed the penalties by senior resident magistrate, Charles Mwaniki, of Kibera law courts after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court heard that Oduor caused chaos at his mother’s home in Langata Estate between June 18 and 20, 2021.
The court also heard that Oduor banged his mother’s door and threatened to beat her, forcing her to take cover inside her bedroom.
It was stated that he repeated the same thing the following day and went into the kitchen to cook after his mother, Gaudensia, locked herself in her bedroom.
The development forced her to report him to the police.
The mother also complained that her son brought his drinking mates to her house on June 20 and caused disturbances.
Gaudensia said she kept quiet out of fear.
Police investigations established that she had made similar complaints against her son last year.
Oduor, through his counsel, told the court that he had settled the matter and reconciled with his mother after he became remorseful.
