Another gruesome domestic violence ensued after a 50-year-old Maria Musa returned home from a funeral just to meet an infuriated husband who reportedly chopped off her hand for not being present at home to cook.
The victim of domestic violence, Maria Musa was reported to have attended a funeral of a close relative and stayed for three days. However, on her return, the enraged husband demanded why she stayed away for so long leaving him without food and a cook and based on his provoked state, he proceeded with a machete to cleave her left hand, reports local media Citizen Digital.
Not only was her hand chopped off, Matiko reportedly threw a spear at Maria’s stomach, cut her forehead and attempted to cut her right hand off as well but was unsuccessful.
“I stayed at the funeral for three days and left on the fourth. When I got home, he asked me who I thought was supposed to be cooking for him on the three days I was away. Previously when we fought, he would even beat me with a rod, but on that day he beat me with a machete,” said the victim.
“I left for a funeral on Monday at one of our in-law’s homestead, we thought the burial was to take place on that dat but it delayed until Wednesday. That was the cause of the problem… When I came back home on Thursday, I prepared supper but when my husband came back home, he started attacking me,” she added.
The couple’s daughter, Catherine Musa stated that her mother, Maria has been the core provided for the family while raising her and her eight siblings. Apparently, Musa contributed very little or nothing to the well-being of the home.
Maria received medical attention and demanded that charges be brought against her husband. The Police Commander (name withheld) confirmed that even though Maria hadn’t filed in a formal complaint, the police department would pursue criminal charges against Musa.
There are still no reports confirming if Musa was found and charged for his crime.
